IRC Channel

IRC stands for Internet Relay Chat. With IRC you can chat with SLUG members about anything. Often we will be idle but certain times during the day you will catch some live discussions. If you want to join the chat room using your web browser use freenode's webchat page.

IRC Clients
- x-chat is a nice IRC client that works on both GNU/Linux and Windows. I would download the free version if you are using windows.
- irssi is a command line client that most of us here use. Its powerful and simple to use.
- qwebirc is a web based IRC client that allows you to connect within your browser.
Of course there are several other clients out there that you can experiment with.

The server our chat room resides on freenode.net

Commands
There are some channel commands you can use such as:
- !seen <nick>
- to see when <nick> was last seen in the channel
- !google <term>
- will do a google search for <term> and post the first result
- !define <term>
- will post the definition of <term>
